No Coast Derby Girls had an exciting roller derby match on April 25th, 2008. The
Dirty Harriets (DH) went against the Flatland Fugitives (FF) in this exciting bout. In the first jam DH scored the first point
and FF scored the next two points to start off the match. This was a low scoring game with the score at the end of the first
period DH 15 and FF 7. After the first intermission both teams came back to do a "fun" obstacle course with some young
fans from the audience. DH won the obstacle course, so the score going into the second period was DH 16 FF 7.
In this exciting match up the second period also did not provide many opportunities to create a large scoring event. The final
at the end of the second period was DH 35 FF 32.
The third period had to be the most intense part of the match up. With 9
minutes to go, the score was DH 44 and FF 43. It was a close match, then the jammer from FF was sent to the penalty
box to serve some time. While she was away, her team was able to hold on to the score and not let the DH score very
many points. With 1:42 to go in the match the FF jammer (#402) was back in the game after spending time in the penalty box.
She came back in fighting mode and gained control of the match by obtaining the lead jammer position and brought the score
to a tie at 51 with 27 seconds to go. Neither team scored another point afterward so this match went into over time.
In overtime, DH scored first and kept control of the game. The final score
was DH 70 and FF 58. The match was very exciting and the fans really enjoyed a good match. The No Cost Derby Girls have
