4. What was your best event to compete in?
My best competitive event
was definately beam, but my favorite event to compete was floor.
5. Explain to us your best moment
at Missouri.
Ooo...this is a tough one! One
moment that definately ranks up there, was the first time I scored a 10 on beam. I had so many emotions running through me
at one time the only thing I could do was cry. A few other favorite Mizzou moments would be qualifying to Regionals every
year, finishing third at Big 12s twice, and winning beam at Big 12s in 2004. And one moment that doesnt involve me was watching
our tiger football team beat Nebraska for the first time in like 24 years.
6. Who was your coach? How was their style different from any other coaches you had?
Our head coach at Missouri is Rob Drass and our assistant coaches are Paul Scardina
and Kira Montouri. Oddly enough, one of the reasons I liked the coaches at Missouri was because they had a very similar coaching
style as my club coaches. Kira, our beam coach, firmly believes in basics, drills, and mental sets, which is exactly like
my old beam coach from high school. Paul and Rob compliment each other very well and provide a great energy to our practices.
7. Was there one school you like to beat more than another?
If so, which one?
Of course we like to beat any
Big 12 school, but one of our biggest rivals for our team is Arkansas. Their program started my freshman year, and every year
since then we have competed against each other. Our two teams are closely matched routine for routine, so the competition
is always close...it's so exciting to compete at that meet!
8. I got to see your school compete this past year at the Big 12 championship, (congrats by the way) did
you guys prepare for that event different than any other?
Big
12s is an important meet for us for many reasons, so nerves are always high. Therefore, the week prior to the meet we do a
lot of pressure sets in the gym and focus on minute details during our routines to minimize deductions. We also have intrasquads
on certain events to mimick the meet setting.
9. Have you played any other sports other than gymnastics? If so, which ones?
The only sport I've "played"
other than gymnastics is cheerleading. I was on a competitive team for my senior year of high school.
10.
Do you follow any sports on tv? If so, which ones and who are your favorite teams?
I love sports! Sports Center
and Baseball Tonight are two of my favorite shows. My favorite sport is definately baseball...and my favorite MLB team is
the Houston Astros! I also like football and hockey. My favorite football team is a tie between the Green Bay Packers and
the Houston Texans. I'd love to meet Roger Clemens, Brandon Backe, Craig Biggio, and Brett Favre.....just in case you can
hook that up or something. Haha.
11. Where are you orginally from?
I was born and raised in
San Antonio, Texas. I lived there my whole life till I came to school in Missouri.
12. What did you major in at Missouri?
My major is Nutrition and
Fitness and I have minor in Sociology.
13. What are your plans for the future?
As of right now I'm just
concentrating on graduating. Then I think I want to do grad school for marketing. I might coach in the future, but my ultimate
dream job would involve dancing of some sort...like back-up dancer or in music videos.
14. How
is the Missouri team going to fare this year?
I think the team is going
to be very strong this year. They lost three seniors but have six new girls coming in. Once the team chemistry is established,
the team will be great!
15. Fun question, if you could change one thing in the world, what would
it be and why?
Hmm...I'm not sure I have
an answer for that. Perhaps, I'd build a man-made beach in every state that doesnt have a coast line...that way everyone has
access to sandy beaches and calming waves! (I love the beach, in case that didnt give it away).
