1. What is your name?
Caitlin Hinkis
2. I know your
on the gymnastics team for Oklahoma University, what year are you?
I am entering my junior year
3.
How did you choose OU?
I wanted a top ten division one program with
an experienced coaching staff. The university prides itself on its athletics and has an incredible school spirit to prove
it. Quality education was also key for me, and OU has academic opportunities on par with its tremendous athletics.
4.
What other schools recruited you?
Penn State, Michigan State, North Carolina State,
University of Pittsburgh, University of New Hampshire
5. How long have you been involved with gymnastics?
11 years!
6. Congrats on 6th place
at NCAA National Championship, explain how you felt going into the Championship.
Thank you. We worked. Can't really say anything
else but we worked incredibly hard. Honestly, nothing else will see results. We were disappointed, one of our best team members
was out with an injury and we had some uncharacteristic mistakes in the competition. Fortunately, this year we will have our
best team in school history, and a brand new coaching staff, and therefore we're looking for even better results. OU is on
the rise!
7. Do you play any other sports? If so, which ones?
no it's almost impossible. As it is, we have
2 a day workouts before class and after. Strength workout is 6:30 in the morning, we go to classes, have practice again, and
then sometimes have night class. We're going ALL day!
8. What are your favorite sports to watch/follow? Any
favorite teams? I pretty much just follow gymnastics and of course all the OU sports teams especially
football!! My favorite teams are THE SOONERS of course!! Boomer Sooner!!
9. What are your plans for the future?
After my eligibility is exhausted I plan on finishing
up at OU and then attending medical school. I want to do surgery, maybe give a helping hand to all those athletes out there!
10. Fun question, if you could change one thing in the world, what would it be and why?
I suppose staying along with the sports topic,
I would want more young athletes to stay involved. Interests fade and teens miss out on opportunities such as college scholarships,
that in reality have the potential to change one's life. So my best advice is to keep on pushing...one day you will look back
and thank your persevering self...!
